In 1994, Bruce Haughey (pronounced Hoy), the founder of Doctor Hoy's, recognized that there weren't many skin care products on the market that contained sufficient amounts of quality ingredients at a reasonable price, he began to develop such products. Although Bruce was not a medical doctor, he came from a family of doctors where health and well being have always been important. Today, Doctor Hoy's has many faithful customers who swear by the wonderful product and high quality ingredients used.
A NEW PAIN RELIEF GEL
Bruce and his wife, Roxanne, were both avid horseback riders. Being disappointed with the products that were available for horses (in terms of sore muscle liniments), Bruce relied upon his previous experience and developed a topical analgesic for use with his horses. This new product contained no oils and left no residue -both of which were important characteristics as other products caused a mess when the horses would roll in the dirt. Unknown to Bruce, his newly created product (being sold in local pet stores) was being used by the horse owners themselves for pain and muscle soreness. DOCTOR HOY'S is a water-based product - it contains no oil or petroleum. This characteristic is very important for many reasons. For example, because DOCTOR HOY'S contains no oil or petroleum there won't be a messy or greasy residue after using the product. In addition, it won't stain your clothing or leave a lingering odor.
DOCTOR HOY'S offers fast and effective pain and muscle relief - again, because the product is water based it is easily absorbed into the tissue where applied resulting in a faster acting, more effective product.
DOCTOR HOY'S can aid in the relaxation of muscles prior to and after physical activity. Because menthol leads to an increase in blood circulation and oxygen flow, applying the product can be very beneficial in many situations. For example, when muscles contract, the cells within the muscle use more oxygen and produce more waste products. An increase in blood circulation aided by DOCTOR HOY'S will allow the muscles to get the needed oxygen and also assist in removing the increase in waste produced by the muscles.
DOCTOR HOY'S won't leave a lingering odor - because many products are oil or petroleum based, the product is not easily absorbed and "floats" on the skin resulting in a less effective pain relief product and a lingering odor.
DOCTOR HOY'S is PH balanced - healthy skin has a mean PH level of 5.5. The desirable PH range for skin care products is between 4 and 7. Products that fall outside of this range can dry or irritate the skin. We have worked to create a product that has a PH level very close to the mean PH level of 5.5. This helps reduce the chances of irritation or drying out the skin.
DOCTOR HOY'S contains a timed-release menthol delivery system - this helps deliver extended pain relief. The timed-release menthol system consists of small microscopic capsules of menthol that are absorbed into the tissue. Once absorbed, these capsules release pain-soothing menthol over an extended period of time offering longer pain relief.
DOCTOR HOY'S contains skin moisturizers and softeners such as Fucogel and Glycerin. These ingredients help the skin retain moisture and leave the skin soft. In addition, we use Zanthoxylum Alatum (Szechwan Pepper), which helps protect the skin from irritation.
DOCTOR HOY'S contains Visible Vitamin E - a natural skin moisturizer, which leaves a beneficial antioxidant on the skin.

• Ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer - synthetic gelling/thickening agent for aqueous systems, used for its superior skin compatibility
• Beta Cyclodextrin - used to entrap menthol in timed-release system - it is a natural sugar complex

• Potassium Hydroxide - Naturally occurring mineral, used as an emulsifier and to aid in Ph balance (product contains less than .05%)
• Mannitol - Natural sweetener found in plants, can be used as a laxative, used as part of the timerelease system
